Beeswax Pillar Candles
Knorr Beeswax is one of the few companies making hand made beeswax candles that have quality, color and you know will last. Be sure to check out Knorr Beeswax.
1. First Burn
The first time the customer burns a pillar candle they should plan on a burn time of several hours or until the well created by the flame extends to within 1/4″ of the sides of the candle. Extinguish the flame and let the wax harden. Burn time will vary. It will depend on the candle diameter. This procedure is necessary so that the well of wax burns uniformly down the center of the candle.
2. Wicks
Keep the wicks trimmed to 1/4″. The longer the wick, the higher the flame which will cause the flame to smoke. Any time smoking occurs, exinguish the candle, and trim the wick to 1/4″. It is safe to re-light the candle also; the excess heat or the weight of the wick tipping to one side may deform the candle.
3. Debris
Keep all debris out of the well of the candle. Match sticks or parts of the burned wick that fall into the candle well can “clog” the wick and cause it to burn inefficiently, or catch on fire.
4. Base
Always use a base under your candle since wax has a tendency to stain. Make sure the candle is on a level surface. Remember the flame will burn straight up even if it is through the side of the candle.

Ferdinand Knorr came to the United States in 1904 after fleeing from his native Poland and the Russian Czar. Tinkering in his machine shop and enjoying his hobby of beekeeping proved to be a successful combination. Fred produced an improved honeycomb for his bees and his famous candles soon followed … candles that were dripless, smokeless and had a gentle fragrance.
The candles were developed in 1928 and initially sold to gift shops and a local inn. The business has been operated by successive generations since 1950. Henry, Judy, and new owner Steve have made Knorr Candle Factory a continuing success by using only the finest materials and holding on to traditional manufacturing methods. Knorr’s high quality dripless 100% Beeswax candles with top notch wicks are a welcome addition to homes in all fifty states and around the world. They are regarded truly as an art.
The meticulous craftsmanship that goes into Knorr candles follows the industrious efforts of thousands of bees. 160,000 bees must travel 150,000 miles collecting nectar to produce 60 pounds of honey that yields only 1 pound of beeswax. Pure 100% beeswax candles burn at a rate of 1 to 1 1/2 inches per hour and should be arranged about 4 inches apart out of the way of drafts. Candles should be stored at room temperature.
