Question: I have a round foyer with a curved staircase and very high ceilings. The wall under the stairs is curved too, and I don’t want it to just be…blah. There’s already a round table in the center so when I tried a small console it looked cramped and repetitive. A large painting looked out of scale and wouldn’t hang right due to the curve.

Answer: Hi Lisa,

Your on the right track with the art work, but do a whole collection of smaller pieces on the entire wall using different sized art, small mirrors, metal work, architectural pieces, etc. At first you’ll probably have to fill your wall with slightly generic stuff, but keep your eyes out for little jewels. Especially when travelling it’s great to come home with a meaningful souvenir. Soon you’ll have a very personal, dramatic wall with each piece having a special memory. Since this collage will change with each new addition, you’ll want to make templates of each piece on newspaper. Now you can easily play with your art puzzle using the templates and tape until you get the perfect balance. That is, of course, until you find your next treasure.
